What a great weekend..

FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND

I got the day off on Friday and we headed out to Houston after Folau finished work. As usual we got a late start, something I have had to get used to this past 16 years, even though it still aggravates me.

So, off we trot, at the hottest time of the day and we are happily traveling south east when what do you think happened? Flash back to December 26 th last year when Hollie and I headed out to Houston with the kids to visit my brother and his family, Flat tire... fast forward....flat tire... At least Folau was present at this one, Hollie and I spent the first 45 minutes trying to find the spare on the last episode.

Kati , waiting patiently.
william not waiting patiently.

So after the tire was changed we were off again. arriving at 10 pm...snacked and hit the lovely guest bed that was awaiting us.

The next morning, being July 4 th, we were awakened to the sweet sounds of my sister in law playing the star spangled banner, and other rather patriotic songs, she was practicing because she was playing in her sacrament meeting the next day.

Mike and Isaac.

We stopped by the local walmart to replace the tire, yes, the same walmart we bought it from in December, luckily I also got the road hazard warranty, so it only cost $6.
We then hit Galveston Beach. Traffic was horrendous, it seemed to take forever to get there, but was well worth it. Karen packed up a superb cooler full of yummy stuff, and we were set for the next 4 hours. It was so nice to watch the kids play. even Folau went into the sea to cool off.
William, Louie and Eve.

Kati, William and Folau.
We headed back to their house to shower and eat dinner, I was hoping to sneak in a nap...didn't happen. Then we headed out to the local stadium for carnival/concert and fireworks. lovely weather too. The lines were horrible for the rides, so the kids only got to ride 3 things, but they seemed happy enough, and then the fireworks.....

Isaac and Karen.
William and Eve planting flags.
William and Louie on the ferris wheel.
By the time they were over it was time to head home, Michael, in all his wisdom already had us packed up and standing by the exit when the last firework popped, so we were well ahead of the other 10,000 people heading to their cars.Getting home and getting the kids to bed was easy.
We left Houston at noon and we brought cousin Louie back with us for the week. William and Louie get on really well so I think we are going to have a fun week.
I took my long awaited nap when we got home, so now all the kids are in bed and I can catch up on laundry and other stuff in peace.....so, To all of you out there who wonder what we did this July 4th holiday, It was a lot of fun, can't wait 'til next year....
